Since I’m working on the Sunday, it’s stragglin' time again.
This time round it’s a nice little run out to Knaresborough and back - mostly minor roads, although the Wetherby-K'boro road (B6164) can get a bit trafficky sometimes, and currently a straight out-and-back route. Proper cafe stop somewhere down in the Nidd gorge, unless there are any better suggestions - any intermediate stops will be by concensus. For those who don’t fancy riding back for whatever reason, Northern run an hourly (or so) train service from Knaresborough to both York and Leeds.
Total distance is approximately 45 miles (72km) with around 200m of ascent, so lumpiness withstanding it’s not too silly. 100% paved, for those who are dirt-phobic although given the state of some of the roads within the City of York boundary you’d forgiven for thinking you were riding off-road … the only ‘major’ road crossing is the A658 just outside Knaresborough; there’s no cycle track on the roundabout so use the footpath if you’re unsure.
Usual rules apply - nobody gets dropped and pace will be kept sensible (moving average of around 20-22kph is normal, depending on terrain, weather and other factors). If you’re running a GPS, please endeavour to download the route onto your unit beforehand in case the group does get split up.
9.30am start from https://www.cycle-heaven.co.uk/ - for those who wish to indulge, bacon sandwiches, tea and cake can be obtained from the cafe from 9am. If you wish to join us en-route, let Simon know (email: simon{at}straggleurs{dot}org{dot}uk
) and we’ll endeavour to accomodate you.

There are further rides planned for Saturday, April 19th (subject to demand, as it’s Easter weekend) and Saturday, April 26th. Routes TBD in both cases.
Nerdy stuff, and maybe even some photos, will appear here after the ride
